Tourist Attractions in Portsmouth

When in Portsmouth, the Spinnaker Tower is a must-see. With its incredible height of 170 meters, the views of the harbor are amazing. There are three observation decks, and the tallest is in the open air. Visitors can feel as if they were walking in mid-air, as they stand on the glass floor of the observation decks. A chic café/bar is also located on the Spinnaker Tower, so visitors can enjoy delicious coffee and sandwiches during the day, and bottled beer in the evening.

Another awesome place to visit while in Portsmouth is the Blue Reef Aquarium. Both children and adults will love seeing the wide variety of sea life. See such creatures as: sharks, sting rays and a coral reef that houses thousands of brightly colored tropical fish and many other sea animals.

Ferry Routes from Portsmouth Ferry Port

Brittany Ferries provide many sailing destinations. They travel from Portsmouth to St. Malo seven times weekly. They also provide service to Caen three times per day, and from Portsmouth to Cherbourg three times daily. Britanny Ferries also travels to Santander three times weekly, and to Bilbao twice a week.

Condor Ferries sails once weekly to Cherbourg. They also travel six times weekly to Guernsey, and sail six times per week from Portsmouth to Jersey.

LD Lines travel fourteen times weekly to La Havre.

Wightlink offers service from Portsmouth to Fishbourne 34 times per day.

The Ocean Bar offers travelers a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Also, the Jave Café offers delicious coffee and snacks. A gift shop is located inside the cafeteria.

How to Get to the Port

If traveling by car, it is easy to get to Portsmouth Ferry Port. Just take the M275 motorway from the Center of London, and take the road exit for Portsmouth Port.

When traveling by train, it takes about 85 minutes to get to Portsmouth from Waterloo. The Ferry Terminal is just a short bus or taxi ride from the train station.

If traveling by bus, many busses run to and from Portsmouth Ferry Port and the Heathrow and Gatwick airports. There are also other coaches that run to and from the Port and the London Victoria Coach Terminal, from which visitors can easily travel to many other parts of the country.
