Newhaven Port + Harbour Guide
Newhaven ferry port at the mouth of River Ouse in Sussex County is located on the south coast of England. It is one of the world’s busiest shipping channels because it connects France and England across the English Channel. The port is only a half hour car trip from London and between Brighton and Eastbourne, two popular seaside resorts. An excellent rail and road network connects it to the rest of England.
Local Attractions / Town Guide
The main attraction is the beautiful countryside, with cliffs to the east and west of the town. Numerous fossils have been found in these cliffs and it has been listed as a Special Scientific Interest site. Surrounding the town is the national park of South Downs, which is considered an ideal place for walking tours.
The Newhaven Historical Society operates the Newhaven Local and Maritime Museum.
Paradise Park, a Tate-family owned garden, is dedicated to preserving history and it is the location for the Sussex History Trail and the Planet Earth Museum.
The town has numerous sports facilities. It is the home of the Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club, the Newhaven Football Club, and an archery club. In addition, there is an indoor bowling centre and an outdoor bowling green. Watersports include scuba diving, surfboarding, and water skiing.
Ferry Routes & Operators
