Ferries and Routes
The Port of Dover serves three ferry companies operating from the Eastern Docks Ferry Port: Norfolkline, Sea France, and P&O Ferries. From Dover, passengers can travel to Calais on Sea France and P&O Ferries and to Dunkirk on Norfolkline.
Getting There
Car
To reach the Port of Dover, motorists should take the A256 or A258 to the A20. From the A20, it is possible to reach the Eastern Docks Ferry Port. Alternatively, passengers from Dover’s town center can catch a local bus to the port.
Train
Those traveling via rail can reach the port from the Dover Priory Railway Station by taxi or by walking. Shuttle bus service is provided every 20 minutes from the train station to the Eastern Docks Ferry Port during the hours of 7:00 to 21:00 daily.
Bus
National Express/Euroline Coaches regularly travel to Dover from London’s Victoria Street Station.
Parking
Parking is available at the Port of Dover. All car parks operated by the port have received the “Park Mark” sign, designating them as safe locations. Directional locations and parking fees are clearly marked in the park. The port offers both short and long term parking.
An online parking reservation system allows passengers to reserve spaces, thus avoiding long queues and ensuring a space close to the terminal. This is especially convenient if you’re traveling on foot and need to employ a porter for baggage handling.
Port Amenities
While waiting for your ferry to depart, you’ll find the Port of Dover offers a wide variety of conveniences to make waiting more pleasant. The port has been designed specifically for those waiting to board the ferry in their cars in mind.
There are two passenger service buildings offering restaurants, currency exchanges, toilets, cashpoint machines, massage chairs, vending machines, and convenience stores stocked with essentials and extras.
Dover
If you have more time to spend in Dover, there are a wide range of activities to enjoy. Among the most famous of Dover’s attractions are its majestic white cliffs, which can be reached by walking along the coast. Closer to the port, Dover Castle is perched atop the white cliffs, and guided tours are available.
The countryside around Dover is a nature lover’s delight. Known as “The Garden of England,” winding lanes and rich farmland sprawl across the county of Kent.
For those that enjoy shopping, De Bradelei Wharf and Ashford Designer Outlet offer a wide variety of name-brand items at discounted prices. The streets of Dover, meanwhile, are a haven for those searching for unique gifts and one-of-a-kind antiques.
