Dover to Calais Channel Ferry Crossing
Why be cooped up in a car or train, with limited views and even more limited space, for the beautiful crossing from Dover to Calais? Instead, take a ferry. There are two operators with multiple crossings daily. You can get out on deck, move around, have a drink or a bite to eat, and let the kids spend some energy in a place that won't frazzle your nerves. SeaFrance offers 11 crossings daily, and P&O Ferries makes the 1 hour and 30 minute trip 22 times a day. Regardless of when you need to travel, you should have no trouble finding a ferry that does not make you wait.
Hungry or Thirsty?
Both companies offer a great variety of dining experiences. SeaFrance has two casual restaurants, La Brasserie and Le Relais; a relaxed bar/lounge called Latitudes, a pub, and a cafe. P&O Ferries offers several coffee shops and bars, as well as a fine dining restaurant and a food court. You will have no problem appeasing every appetite in the family! For a small upgrade, P&O offers their Club Lounge, where guests are offered a complimentary beverage and newspaper, and even the services of a personal shopper.
What about the kids?
Both ferry companies offer activities for children. There is a nursery for the youngest children, a video game zone for teenagers, and a kid zone packed with activities for children in between. Relax and enjoy a peaceful crossing, knowing that your children are happy and well-cared for in a space made just for them.
Live to Shop?
Duty-free shops are one of the bonuses of international travel, and both SeaFrance and P&O Ferries have them. You can find everything from sunglasses, fine jewelry, and the latest fashions, to your favorite wines and spirits.
