Calais Port + Harbour Guide
The Port of Calais, on the northern coast of France, offers ferry services that connect to most of north east France, including Paris. In addition, the comprehensive rail and road network connects Calais with the rest of France and the further into the continent of Europe. For instance, it’s only 3 hours from Paris and 2 hours from Brussels. In fact, the Dover-Calais ferry has numerous daily crossings and may be the busiest ferry route on the planet.
Local Attractions
There are three main attractions in and around the town of Calais: an art museum, a war museum, and a shopping complex. Rodin’s works are on rue Richelieu in the Fine Art and Lace Museum and his world-famous statue, "The Burghers of Calais,” is in front of the local town hall. South of the town is a wartime museum, once the German headquarters for this region. Then, just outside the town, is Cité Europe, a shopping complex.
